What can I do with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise and Nutrition Sciences)?
The Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise and Nutrition Sciences) is designed to provide you with a wide variety of career choices in exercise and sport science, community and corporate fitness, and/or nutrition, health and wellness industries. What will I study?
You will Study everything about the human body, from bones and muscles to skin and tissue. You will not only explore the key areas of exercise and nutrition sciences, but will learn scientific principles, skills and theoretical knowledge.
You can expect to study courses such as exercise physiology, metabolism of nutrients, biomechanics, food science, motor control, health promotion and chemistry.
You will learn a variety of valuable skills to prepare you for a successful career in this field including:
- how to apply scientific principles and research to influence eating behaviours
- how to appraise the exercise and nutritional needs of the community
- how to influence the wider environment affecting food supply and policy
- how to communicate nutritional and exercise recommendations to clients
- how to conduct qualitative analysis for health
What are my options for further study?
This program provides students with a solid grounding to continue onto postgraduate study in areas such as dietetics, physiotherapy, medicine, exercise science and sport coaching.
Research can be taken in areas such as biomechanics, exercise physiology, functional anatomy, motor control, nutrition, sport science, physical activity and health.
