Master of Exercise Science
Overview
The Master of Exercise Science masters program that has been specifically designed to provide suitably qualified university graduates with an accelerated path to gaining accreditation as Exercise Physiologists with the Australian Association of Exercise and Sports Science (AAESS).
To practice in exercise science, AAESS accreditation is vital - only AAESS-accredited practitioners are eligible to gain provider status with health care agencies such as Medicare, Workcover and the Department of Veteran Affairs. The program focuses on the development of specialised knowledge, skills and practical experience in the promotion, prescription and management of exercise.
Graduates work in a variety of areas, including musculoskeletal rehabilitation, cardiac rehabilitation chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, obesity), health promotion and disease prevention and return to work settings.
Entry Requirements (#24) Three Semester Program
To enter the program, students must hold an approved degree equivalent to a 3 year degree is exercise or sports science.
Entry Requirements (#40) Five Semester Program
To enter the program, students must hold an approved degree and have passing grades in three courses, one in Human Anatomy, one in Human Physiology and one in Psychology (courses must have an equivalent unit value of #2). If an applicant has not undertaken these courses in their initial degree, they may consider undertaking them as a non award student before applying for entry into the program.
