Sports Medicine

Overview

The School of Human Movement Studies offers General Practitioners a suite of exciting new professional degrees in the rapidly expanding field of sports medicine. The Graduate Certificate and Master of Sports Medicine are aimed specifically at general practitioners wanting to develop their clinical knowledge and skills in the expanding field of sports medicine.

Why Study Sports Medicine at UQ

The Sports Medicine program features:

  • Completely offered on line
  • Comprehensive coverage of the theory and practice of sports medicine to optimise the management of injuries and medical conditions in the exercising individual.
  • Embraces evidence-based practice and clinical research methods in sports medicine to optimise the health care of physically active individuals.
  • Flexible, web-based delivery of key content knowledge.
  • Interdisciplinary approaches to the prevention, treatment and management of sports injuries.

Sports Medicine is also known as Studies of Musculoskeletal in some countries.

The program is available at two levels

Students are able to articulate from the Graduate Certificate to the Masters level.

Entry Requirements

To enter the program, students must hold an bachelor of medicine, bachelor of surgery or equivalent degree; be registered as a medical practitioner in the student’s country of practice; and have completed 2 years post-qualification relevant work experience.

Application form for domestic & international students

International students may not undertake the program on campus at UQ on a full time basis; they may only study from their home countries and will not be eligible for an Australian student visa. International students are to use the domestic application form and send directly to the School of Human Movement Studies.
