Seminar: Exercise compliance: theory and practice by Professor Marijke Hopman-Rock

Exercise and physical activity (PA) compliance is one of the emergent topics in research and practice. A review by Williams et al. (2007) revealed that 17 sedentary adults would need to be referred by primary care for only ONE to become moderately active. Prof. Hopman-Rock will address the determinants and correlates of exercise compliance, and adherence will be discussed in relationship to usefulness for practitioners.
About the speaker: Marijke is a professor in Physical activity and health of older persons at the VU university medical center in Amsterdam. The Netherlands. She is also co-director of the Body@Work research center Physical activity, Work and Health TNO VU medical center. Her professional background is Biology, Psychology (statistics) and epidemiology (PhD).
