Career Opportunities in Sport & Exercise Psychology

Although there are limited advertised fulltime positions in sport psychology in Australia each year, the demand for sport psychology services has been steadily increasing. Generally individuals need to go into private practice to tap this demand. Those who are passionate about the field and who do a good job tend to find many employment opportunities.

Exercise psychology is becoming relevant to hospitals, gymnasia and health insurance companies. Graduates have gained employment applying performance enhancement techniques to the corporate world. Many have also found employment in other areas of psychology, some as a result of the required external placement in a second area of psychology.
